Illustration Friday’s: Triangle

So I’m going to try and make more of an effort to draw this summer to keep the creative flow going, and Illustration Friday’s gives you a theme every week to work with. I had actually done this piece for a school project; it was an expressive diagram about “A Day in the Life of an Orca: Wild vs Captive”. This was the feature image for it, and originally it had facts surrounding it about wild orcas (which were coloured) and captive orcas (which were grey tone). This works well with the theme, since I rendered these whales only using triangles in order to get this edgy, glass-like effect. This style is called “low poly art” and I used Adobe illustrator to redraw each whale in triangles, then filled each one in with colour. It’s something I’ve always wanted to try; it was really tedious work and took awhile, but the result turned out pretty amazing!

In my diagram project, the coloured whale represented the wild orca, while the grey tone represented the orca in captivity.
